Luke 2:1-2 and 4
In those days it occurred that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that the whole Roman empire should be registered. This was the first enrollment, and it was made when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And Joseph also went up from Galilee from the town of Nazareth to Judea, to the town of David, which was called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David.
The first Christmas was going to be documented, so that it could be read many times over for all Christmas’ to come.
It was also documented so the prophecy of the Messiah’s birth was known to be fulfilled.
Prophets of old foretold Jesus would come from the house of David.
They also prophesied that He would be born in Bethlehem.
And all this came to pass.
Even though Jesus would be known as a Nazarene, His beginning began in Bethlehem.
God’s divine plan was set in motion with the first census while Mary was at the end of her pregnancy.
How is it that she did not give birth during this difficult ninety-mile journey?
God ordained it to be so.
His plan was perfectly orchestrated.
He has a plan us for today too.
When I am overwhelmed with the details of my life, the what ifs of my life, I turn to the Lord.
We can turn to Him and give Him our worries, our fears, and our anxious thoughts.
We may not know how God is going to do all the things He is going to do, but we do know He does.
Let us lay all our cares, concerns, and burdens at the feet of God today as we near the celebration of His Son’s birth.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, thank You for Your divine plan to save us from our sins. Thank You for the perfect plan You have for our lives. You have every detail of every situation perfectly worked out. Stop our minds from worrying about all that concerns us and help us rely on You instead. Quiet the unrest in our souls and grant us peace as we celebrate Jesus’ birth. May Your heavenly joy burst forth in our hearts this day. Our hope is in You, Lord. Help us bless someone today. Thank You for hearing our prayer.
Answer: My plan for you is perfect. Trust in Me and trust in My Son.
Response: Help us trust You with every detail of our lives, Father. In Jesus’ name, amen.
