John 11:39-40
“Jesus said, Take away the stone. Martha, the sister of the dead man, exclaimed, But Lord, by this time he [is decaying and] throws off an offensive odor, for he has been dead four days!”
“Jesus said to her, Did I not tell you and promise you that if you would believe and rely on Me, you would see the glory of God?”
How many times have I said, “But God!”?
Times when I didn’t fully believe He was taking care of me.
Times when I didn’t want to do what He asked.
Times when I made excuses to not go when He told me to go.
Times when I didn’t think I was ready or able.
Similarly, we ask our children to do things they do not want to do or do things they think they cannot do.
We know they can.
We know they are able, and we know it is time.
Then we hear the words, But mom!
Jesus’ response to Martha was, “Did I not tell you and promise you that if you would believe and rely on Me, you would see the glory of God?”
As I read this passage today, my heart sank.
I thought about all the times I must have said, “But God”.
I had missed it.
I had missed seeing the glory of God countless times.
I do not want to not miss Him anymore.
I’m sure Martha had no idea what the Lord was going to do that day.
She had no idea her brother would be brought back from the dead because she didn’t fully understand the power of Jesus.
But we do.
We know the end of the story.
We know the Lord can do anything.
So, we can choose to believe the Lord has the power over our lives or not.
We can miss the glory of God or we can believe that He is Almighty God and experience Him in all His glory.
Today I choose to believe in and rely on the Lord and pray He will remove any unbelief from my heart.
May you find the Lord can do all things for you and will continue to show you His glory through every miracle He provides.
Daily Prayer:
O Lord, my God, thank You for reminding me to believe and rely on You. Thank You for reminding me that I will experience Your glory as I wait on You and have faith in You. Help me be patient and not go out ahead of You, Father. Help me remain steadfast in believing Your plan is perfect for me. Increase my faith and belief, Lord. May all things be done for Your glory. May Your perfect will be done. Ready me for Your service and use me as You have planned. Strengthen me and grant me the courage to obey You in all things and all circumstances. Keep my heart seeking You and may Your peace rest upon me today. Help me bless someone this day. Thank You for hearing my prayer.
Answer: I AM the great I AM, and I AM always watching over you and caring for you perfectly, My child.
Response: Thank You, Almighty and All-Powerful God.
